As a small business owner, you should be looking for every possible revenue channel you can find in order to drive your business forward. If you are not already invested in an e-commerce solution in order to sell your product or service on your website, this is a move your business needs to make.
We’ll talk about several reasons why this is such a smart step in the growth of your business.
It’s convenient for you. Sit back and watch the sales roll in as your online store does the work for you. With some simple marketing strategies online, which might include marketing through social media, email campaigns, and search engines, you can be driving revenue to your business all while sitting in your pajamas watching TV. Just remember to have a customer service option that is clear to customers if they experience issues.
Customers prefer the convenience of ordering online. A recent Nielsen report shows that 59% of consumers actually prefer to shop online. So bring the people what they want and make sure you are offering your product or service via your website! Not only is this offering convenient for you, but it is convenient for your audience, who also likes to remain in their pajamas while conducting business.
You can work entirely from home. More on that convenience note! If all of your sales are driven online, then you can work entirely in the convenience of your own home. Customer service calls can be taken in your slippers, and product can be fulfilled from the comfort of your living room (that is, until your business becomes so wildly successful that you need to outsource your fulfillment!).
Grow your audience exponentially! If you have a storefront, you know the limitations of revenue opportunities. It’s all about word of mouth and local traffic. By accepting online payments, you can make your product or service available to the entire globe if that makes sense. At a minimum, the same demographic who comes to your store in person also exists outside of your physical location in masses, so you can capture that larger audience when your offering is available online.
It’s better for the environment. Processing credit cards online clearly generates zero paper trail, so there are obvious positive environmental impacts to having an e-commerce solution. A customer always loves to have fewer receipts hanging around, but the option is still available of course for the online customer to print the receipt should they want one for their records.
In short, accepting online payments through an e-commerce channel on your website is pretty much a no-brainer for a business. It’s more convenient for both you and your customer, you can grow your revenues because your offering will reach exponentially more people, and there are also great benefits to the environment. Could there be more compelling reasons to make this option available to your customer?
Do you have a favorite e-commerce solution you’ve tried or are currently using? We’d love to hear about it!
