Vertical Response Review

VerticalResponse is a company that offers a range of self-service marketing solutions but is probably best known for their email marketing packages. It currently has more than 100,000 customers and is apparently one of the 350 fastest growing companies in the whole of North America. They combine your email marketing campaign with social networking in order to increase your company’s overall reach. As VerticalResponse has been involved with email marketing since 2001 and social media since its inception, it has the ability to move with the times, an essential component of success.

Pricing
Like most other email marketing companies, VerticalResponse offers a free trial with no credit card details required. They have a pay as you go option or you can pay monthly. Regardless of which package you choose, you will have free image hosting, list management, free customer support, social sharing on Twitter and Facebook and many more features.

  • Pay As You Go: This package charges you per email sent. You simply buy credits with one email recipient costing you one credit. So 1,000 emails will cost you $15 for example. The cost per email drops when you send in bulk so 5,000 emails will cost $60 and 100,000 emails will cost $850.
  • Monthly: Again, the number of subscribers you have dictates the price. If you order a 6 month or 12 month subscription, it will work out cheaper per month. The cheapest monthly package covers up to 500 subscribers and costs $10 a month. If you have more than 40,000 subscribers, it costs $240 a month though customers with a 12 month contract pay just $204 a month.

Features
One of the best things about VerticalResponse is the ease of formatting email campaigns. You can either work from scratch or use one of their many templates to get you started. You can also cut and paste HTML code if you already have it. It’s also possible to create plain emails or ones with logos and pictures. The interface is also very easy to use. It is extremely well organized so minimal time is wasted finding your way around. About the only issue with VerticalResponse organization-wise is that you need to be on the report page in order to see the reports. Many of its competitors have a specific tab for reports which make them accessible from anywhere.

There are four different ways to create an email on VerticalResponse. You can use the freeform HTML editor to replicate the feel of your company’s website or write plain text emails but it’s recommended that you use the email wizard if you’re unfamiliar with HTML. You also receive detailed statistics of your email campaign including the number of opened emails, amount of recipients who unsubscribe and the number of emails that didn’t get to their intended destination.

Overall
VerticalResponse is a fantastic option for those looking to master email marketing. The video tutorials are a nice additional touch and help you learn more about the tools available to you. The social networking buttons which allow email recipients to share the email are also useful and can help you spread your message (and save you having to send more emails!). VerticalResponse has a reputation for being one of the best in the business and it’s easy to see why.
